Jumilla wine varieties

With violet tones, abundant fruit aromas, the Monastrell grape has historically been the main grape variety planted in the region. Other varieties were Grenache, Grenache Dyer and Cencibel, more recently Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah are also harvested.

The white wines are produced from varieties such as Airen, Pedro Ximenez and Macabeo, having lovely golden colours, with fragrant fruit and lively aromas.

Route El Carche

This route runs along by the Mountain range of El Carche.

Recently declared a Regional Natural Park, the mountain range of El Carche is crowned by three tops, of which the power station is the second regional height with 1375 meters above sea level. This peak provides an excellent viewpoint with 360 degrees vistas from which on clear days it is possible to see, the Sierra Nevada Mountains to the east and the sea in Alicante to the west.

In addition to the different species from fauna and flora that the area contains, and to the different geologic layers that make this mountain range unique. One of the other attractions is the number of "Pozo of the Snow" which you will see along the route. These were popular in the seventeenth century as a means of storing and to conserving ice.

The Mountain range has a municipal shelter that provides a free rest point to groups of hikers throughout the year who have come to explore this unique and wonderful mountain range.

Between the more showy places of greater interest and to the visitor they emphasize the Cabezo of the Rose, the Madama of the Carche, the Precipice of the Guarafía, the Shade of the Revolcador, the Rock of the Castelar, the Precipice of San Cristóbal, the Pedriza, the Solana of the Alberquilla, the Precipice of the Saltaor, Peculiar and the Source of the Leech
